For the most part, I hate snow. It’s cold and wet and hard to drive in. After a day or two it’s dirty and gross. But, I have to admit that the snow we got this week was just beautiful, and a little bit exciting. I was just waiting for Reed to come home and say “Do you smell that honey? It smells like basketball season!” He didn't actually say that, but he did go out to play ball at the church that night. Of course, the boys were just dying to go out and play. Here’s another problem with snow---it takes twenty minutes to get the kids decked out in their snow gear, they stay outside for two minutes, then they track mud and snow inside and want you to make hot chocolate!

On Saturday we also got a lot of snow. Michael and I went out and built snow forts and had a snowball fight. This is when it finally dawned on me that I have NO snow clothes. I don’t have a parka, gloves, snow pants or boots. Maybe I should add those things to my Christmas list? I was soaking wet by the time we came in, but we had fun. Michael decided he wanted to build something else in the snow, so we built a snow slide. I have a vague memory of my dad building me one of these when I was about Michael’s age. I’m sure the one he built was much cooler, but hopefully when Michael is older his memories will be a bit vague, and he’ll think I was cool too.

Last week Brian played in the snow with Ethan for about 4 hours! Joshua was out with them for a while too, but didn't last quite as long. I love that Brian is so good at playing, and I'm happy to be the one that stays in and makes the hot chocolate!
