Ten for Tuesday 7.07.09

We're having a busy, busy summer! Full of fun stuff, but I'm having a hard time keeping up with everything.

1. On Friday we took the kids to Lagoon. Some of Reed's family came along, and we had a great time. Blake and his cousin Jimmy went on most of the rides together, and it was so fun for him to have a little buddy.

Michael is in the lucky spot of being the perfect size for Lagoon. He's tall enough for all of the big rides, and small enough for all of the little rides. The problem is that he feels embarrassed to ride some of the kiddie rides because they are for little kids, but he's too scared to go on most of the big rides. Oh! the conflict!

Here we are! All of us! It almost never happens that we are all behind the camera at the same time. Obviously, someone who was color-blind and completely clueless about fashion dressed us, but that's okay. I'll take it.

2. Saturday was the 4th of July. We did the usual. . .

Parade (Why do I always cry at the beginning of the parade? It's worse than watching those annoying Sylvan commercials or seeing a friend finish a marathon!) ,

Waiting for the loot. . .

BBQ at Great Nana's,

and fireworks at the high school (no pics).

One more cute picture of Blake and Jimmy. These two got into quite the biting war this weekend. Who knew sharing a cookie could be so dangerous?!

3. It's only #3 and I've run out of things to say! So, I'm going to share some pics that I took this week during the Parade of Homes. I'm always looking for fun ideas to incorporate into my own home---which really is a stupid thing to do since I never actually have the time/money/creativity to actually follow through. But, I guess it's fun to dream just the same.

One thing I have to say about the Parade of Homes is that I am sick to death of brown. Dark brown carpet, dark brown walls, dark brown counters, dark brown cabinets. I feel like I'm in a cave! Please, show me some color! Show me some light! Now, I have a fair share of tan and brown in my own home and I am sick of it too. We saw a few homes that were bright and cheerful, and it made me want to re-paint my entire house. (I'd better be careful of what I say, or Reed will stop taking me on the Parade!).

Oh, one more thing. If I ever see another house decorated in Cowboy and Indian theme I will gag all over the dark brown carpet! Ugh!

This bed looked so soft and beautiful, I just wanted to crawl in and take a nap! Definitely inspired me to finish up my own bedding project.

4. Loved these cute prints.

5. This boys' room was so cute. I especially liked the argyle blankets.

6. Fun idea, but. . . It would just be such a mess all the time. Kids, chalk, carpet. . . no thanks!

7. These girls beds were darling! It made me want to have two little girls so they could have cute, cosy beds. I know, not a good reason to have more children, but still. . .

8. I just love the brightly colored abacus, and I would love to have some extra book storage.

9. I paid particular attention to the tile in the showers. Lame, I know, but I need some ideas for our basement shower. I really liked these glass subway tiles, but I have a feeling they cost a fortune. My mom says they are too 70's. What do you think?

By the way, I hate these shower heads. I know a lot of people love them, but who really wants shampoo in their eyes?

10. Not sure why, but I really loved this room.

Thanks for tuning in, see ya next week!
