Ten for Tuesday 2.02.10

Do you ever just have those days that don't go quite the way you had hoped or planned? Yeah. Me too. It seems to be happening a lot more frequently these days. I have a feeling that some of it can be attributed to what I call "pregnant brain." So, there's not really much going on these days, but I thought I'd share a few random "pregnant brain" thoughts.

1. I'm officially waddling. I'm 25 weeks and waddling.

2. I can't find a pair of pants that fit. At all. I know that I already qualify as a fashion retard, but it's been really bad lately. The pants are either too tight, too short, too big, or just plain ugly. And, that's only one small part of the whole story. I never have the right shoes, and don't even get me started on my hair. The cowlick in the middle of my bangs is seriously going bananas. I think I need an intervention.

3. On Saturday I took a clean load of laundry out of the dryer and left it in a basket in the laundry room---right next to a basket of dirty laundry that was waiting to go into the washer. Yes, you know what happened. I waited for the water to fill and then came back to the laundry room and dumped the whole basket of clean laundry right back into the washer. Duh. There's always a first for everything, right?

4. Speaking of firsts, today I totally forgot to pick the kids up from school. SJ has been driving the kids both ways to school and preschool for the past month so she could take time off after her baby was born (Last month was really, really nice!). This is my first week back driving, and I totally forgot about the early out schedule today. Duh.

5. Last night I "baked" our dinner for 35 minutes only to discover that I forgot to turn on the oven. Dinner was late. Pregnant brain is real people. I am a testament. Okay, on to other random thoughts. . .

6. I was getting too much crap in my Hotmail account, so I finally switched over to Gmail, and I love it! What took me so long?! Google does everything better. If you haven't tried out their web browser, you ought to. Google Chrome is awesome.

7. The other day Reed left for work without brushing his teeth (is pregnant brain contagious?). He was on the freeway before he realized it, but decided to turn around and come home rather than stop somewhere to buy a toothbrush. Well, he nearly gave me a heart attack in the process. I was sitting at the kitchen table eating my breakfast and reading the paper. I thought I heard a sound in the garage and figured Reed must have forgotten to close the garage door when he left for work. So, I got up and opened the door only to see a large man barreling up my steps. I screamed and nearly wet my pants before I realized it was Reed. I swear, Reed must get such a kick out of me. It's really easy for him to get a reaction like that out of me.

8. Just found out that we probably need to replace all of the tires on the van---already. Didn't we just barely buy that thing? Brand new? Shouldn't tires last more than 17,000 miles? It's always something. Ug. For the record, I love spending money on things like tires.

9. Someone just made my day! Scratch that. This was good enough. She at least made my month! Yesterday I was whining to a friend (something I happen to be very good at) about coming down with my 17th cold of the season. By no means am I on death's door---just royally bugged about having another cold. Well, this sweet friend just dropped off dinner for tonight. I was so excited, I nearly cried! This is just one example of people doing nice things for me. Last week Reed's mom brought dinner by when she heard I'd been home for the second Sunday in a row with sick kids. A couple of weeks ago I had a friend call and offer to take my kids for the afternoon when she heard I was sick (stomach flu round 4? Are you kidding me?!). And on Sunday, a neighbor brought by two bags full of diapers along with some warm cookies. Not to mention my mom who constantly watches my kids during my 101 appointments. I don't know what I did to deserve it, but it is so nice to have people who take care of you! Thank you, thank you!!! Someday this miserable pregnancy will be over and I'll come back up for air. Then maybe I can start repaying some of the favors!

10. Tonight after I don't cook dinner, I'm going to put the kids to be early and curl up for a few hours with my Tivo. I am just a LITTLE bit excited about the LOST premier tonight. I am so excited that it's finally time for this season to start!

Thanks for the great laugh Jess. YOU just made my day!! I am a testament to post-pregnancy brain. It's a crazy (yet REAL) thing. Sounds like you are surrounded by great people. Enjoy LOST tonight. Seems like it's been YEAR since it was on last.

We had to replace the two front tires on our van..no fun, and not cheap.
I can totally relate on how nice it is to be surrounded by good friends and family who take care of you. I too cannot wait to start repaying some of the favors.
And, I hope you enjoy the Lost premiere.

Very funny! Love reading the blog.
Sounds like you are staying very busy raising the family. Oh and since you love buying tires we will just wait a few months and have you buy some for us too.

I'm finally catching up on my blog reading (and eventually posting). I'm there with you on the pregnancy brain. Completely understand. I had to go back through your blogs to find out when you're due and and what you're having. Congratulations!

There is absolutely nothing wrong about buying new tires.

Much love,
Your favorite brother

I hope those service-providers are getting the blessings they deserve! How awesome for you to be surrounded by such great people!
Have you been sick this pregnancy? I swear I'm already ready to deliver this kid and I'm not even 15 weeks. I'm so sick of being sick!
And don't get me started on maternity pants. They weren't created with regular-to-medium tall people in mind. you can be either 5'5 or 6' and have pants that fit. In between that? Sucks to be you.
You're hilarious. I hope you feel better soon!
