A few things that are slightly addicting:

1.  Pinterest.  Liz describes Pinterest as "a more-addicting-than-crack way to catalog pretty images."  For a few years I've been keeping a digital tear file on my computer.  A place where I copy and paste pictures and links of things that I like and may want to find again later on.  I use it to store recipes I want to try, crafts or printables that I may or may not get to, items to put on my Christmas list, inspiration for my home, etc.  Basically, it's a place where I file things that I see while surfing the net that I want to remember and find later on.  Well, Pinterest makes it so much easier by letting you categorize your images , and it saves the link for you!  Woot!  The site is set up to be a social networking site, so you can follow other people and see what inspires them.  As with any internet site, you probably want to be careful scrolling through other peoples' images.

This is not my pinboard.  I'm not tech-savvy enough to figure out how to copy my board, but you can check out my boards here, and even join my two random followers if you like!

2.  Picasa.  Yes, I know Picasa has been around for awhile, but a few months ago I started tagging the faces in my photos.  It makes it so much easier to find photos of a specific person.  The process takes forever, and is totally addicting.  As soon as you name a person, it pulls up 3 more pictures that they are in.  Once you confirm the right names, it pulls up more photos for you to label.  And over, and over, and over.  Just curious, has anyone actually reached the end and labeled all of their photos?

3.  Family History.  Say what?!  I've been trying to get started on Family History work for about a year now. I've gotten online several times and dinked around, but I've never really knew where to begin.  Finally last week I started really doing some research on family names.  It was surprisingly fun.  I felt like a detective.  I may or may not have stayed up until 2 am reading census reports.  You should try it. Really.  Just not at 2 am!

4.  The news.  I've always loved to read the newspaper, watch the news, and listen to news programs on podcasts and the radio.  I like to feel like I am informed about current events, but lately it feels like the amount of news is almost crushing.  It seems like there is just so much happening around the world, that it's almost impossible to stay on top of.  On the one hand, I feel like spending even more time with Brian Williams, Diane Rheme, and Shields & Brooks ---trying to make some sense of it all.  The other hand tells me to give up---I no longer have the brain cells for it!

Have you been doing anything fun to make it through this cold weather?  Not that I really need anything else in my life that is addicting. . .
