Ten for Tuesday 6.24.08

  1. This is going to be a stretch this week. . .
  2. Not much going on. Hallelujah!
  3. Hot weather and the "lazy days of summer" are finally here.
  4. We went to the library Thursday afternoon for their "Doodlebug Art" activity. It was a little bit crazy, and the library was packed, but the kids had a really good time making bugs out of clay and pipe cleaners. Cartoonist Val Bagley came and taught the kids how to draw cartoon bugs, and Ty was the lucky winner of his demonstration poster. The kids were pretty excited to hang it up in their room. Michael keeps asking when we can go back, so we'll probably be heading over again this Thursday for the "Science Fun" demonstration. Come and join us!
  5. This week we learned about the letter D and Dinosaurs. We made a volcano, and the boys thought it was so cool. What a mess!

6. Last Thursday was Michael's last t-ball game. He really enjoyed t-ball. His favorite part of the game was sitting in batting line-up goofing off with his friends.

7. Saturday we had a ward water party that was a lot of fun. Everyone had a great time on the slip n' slide. . . except Blake. We took him a couple of times, and he was not happy about it. Michael and Ty were in heaven all afternoon. I ran past the park yesterday, and the grass where the slip n' slide was is completely dead!

8. On Saturday my laundry room got the royal treatment. Reed climbed up on the roof to clean out the lint from our dryer exhaust. It was bad. We had never done it since we moved into the house, and the filter was 100% blocked with lint. We also removed a panel in the back of the dryer drum, and the lint packed in there was totally charred and crispy. Seriously, we were probably one dryer load away from a house fire. Oh, the things you learn as a first-time home owner! Of course, when we put the dryer panel back on, we didn't line it up properly, and the drum was all off balance. We had to call my dad to come over late Saturday night to help us figure out how to fix it. Thanks Dad! We'll know for next time. . . and it won't take us four years to get to it again. I promise! By the way, my dryer is working much better now!
9. Last week I went from Monday through Friday without any sugar treats. I decided I needed to take a break from sugar for awhile, and go cold turkey. I am telling you people, it takes more than 5 days to kick a sugar habit. By Friday night I was nearly shaking with desire for a treat! I probably won't do that again for awhile (although I probably should do it every week!), life's too short!
10. Ty has been waking up dry every morning for over a week! Hooray! Way to go Ty!

Glad to hear I am not the only one with a major sugar addiction! It's just too easy when you're the one doing the grocery shopping and cooking. It is too accessible and apparently I have little self control when it comes to chocolate! I am impressed you went 5 days without it!

Now you've got me worried about my dryer. The list is always long of things to worry about as a home owner.
