1. The biggest news of the week is that the file folder games are DONE! Hear me breathe a huge sigh of relief. I cannot wait to get those things out of my house and off my To-Do list. They are SO not perfect, but they are SO done. Aaaahh.
2. Our Humanitarian service project was Saturday, and I thought it went really well. 3 quilts, 500 hygiene kits, 200 school kits, and 100-ish file folder games. Not bad! Thanks to everyone who came and helped. See ya next year!
3. We had an exciting Saturday, let me tell you. Reed spent some time trying to fix the leak in our rain gutter that is causing so much headache. No success yet, but we're inching forward. It honestly gives me a heart attack even thinking about climbing up on a ladder that high. I'm so glad to have a husband willing to do the dirty work!
4. Michael had an awesome soccer game this week. He made 2 goals and a couple of really good saves. He is getting faster and more focused. Way to go, Michael!
I didn't intend to shoot this picture sideways, but I got too excited watching him head for the goal!
5. On Monday we took the kids to Family Night at the Utah Botanical Center. They had and owl and tortoise show and lots of fun crafts for the kids.
They made little owls and habitats for them to live in.
6. Overheard at our house:
Reed: Jess, could you wash my bath towel? It hasn't been washed for a long time.
Me: I washed it this morning. Just like I do every Monday.
Reed: Oh. Thanks.
Honestly. I think I need to start keeping a log of all the things I do around the house that go unnoticed! This reminds me of when Reed's mom came to visit us at our Wymount Apartment. We had been living there for several months and he told his mom that the bathroom probably hadn't been cleaned since we moved in. Excuse me? I clean the bathroom at least once a week. Just because I do it when he's not home does not mean I never do it. Now, to be fair, Reed has never accused me of sitting home and eating bon bons all day, but sometimes I wonder what he thinks it is I do with all my time!
7. Overheard at our house:
Reed: What the?! First you highlight your hair, and then you move the microwave? What is going on around here?
8. Overheard at our house:
Michael: Mom, if two boys sit next to you, then you're "chicken trapped."
Reed: Really? What if two girls sit by you?
Michael: Then you're "girl trapped."
Reed: Really? What if two chickens sit next to you?
Michael: Huh? I don't know. . .
9. Lands End is currently shipping me my 3rd swim suit in as many weeks. Fingers crossed that this one will actually work. Why does it have to be so hard to find a suit that fits right? And, more importantly, why do I have to be so darn picky?
10. I'm fresh out of ideas. . . Hopefully I can be more interesting next week. But don't hold your breath.

I hope your swimsuit works!
The Botanical center looks like a lot of fun, great idea.
I have two really good friends right now who's husbands are out of work and the women are the ones with a job and able to support the family. I've found myself a little jealous (not that I want my husband to lose his job) because I think it would be nice to switch roles temporarily so he really understands what a day in my shoes is like. Even though I know it's still easier than a day in his shoes. I think all husbands are like Reed to some degree in that they think some things just get overlooked for months and months.
You highlighted your hair?? Nice! Good luck with the LE swimsuit. My sister finally found one that worked for her on limericki.com.
your humanitarian aid activities always amaze me. You get more done on one Saturday than we do in quarterly activities spread over several years. You're amazing.
I always enjoy reading your posts!
I've sometimes thought it would be nice to have video camera's in each room of the house, so Brian could come home and see exactly what happened that day. (Oh, and then I'd know who had the toy first, or if the kids really washed their hands).
