Ten for Tuesday 8.03.10

I'm going to attempt a Ten for Tuesday without all of the travelogue pics this week. So, this is just a bunch of randomness today. Enjoy!

Shall we start with a little TMI?

1. So last week was a long week. Long. We had nowhere we really needed to be, so I decided to give potty training another go. We went almost an entire week with very little success. I'm talking sitting with the kid for hours in the bathroom only to have him have an accident five minutes later. Never once going to the bathroom willingly. So on Saturday I took a much needed break and went grocery shopping for a couple of hours---warning Reed that Blake was due for a trip to the bathroom. Reed told Blake to go to the bathroom, and don't come out until you've pooped. Magic. He finally did it! All of my hours of begging, pleading, crying, bribing = nothing but crap. Reed says "don't come out until you're done," and BINGO!

On days like that I think that Reed should have put me through law school instead of the other way around. He would make a much better stay-at-home parent than I. Plus, I'm way better at arguing---a trait all lawyers need right? Anyway, we're finally making some progress, and I'm a happy mama.

2. Lately getting to church, sitting through church, and getting home from church has been a little intense. A week ago my children and I created such a scene in sacrament meeting that I swore to Reed I would never come back. (I can be a little dramatic sometimes! Michael has picked up on it, and keeps saying that I exaggerate. Who me?) This Sunday wasn't quite so bad, but we totally made a grand entrance, if you know what I mean. That night we had a fun ward activity where we walked around the block with our neighbors, visiting and inhaling cookies. Perfect Sunday night activity if you ask me. Anyway, I am not exaggerating when I say at least 10 people told me how sorry they feel for me on Sundays. I love how everyone sees me with my kids and thinks, Man she's got her act together. Hah.

3. Reed could tell I was having a long week, so he took me out on a real date on Saturday. Date! It's been awhile! First we went out to Zupas. I've been to their blog several times and I've been wanting to try it out for awhile. Reed's not crazy about it, but Zupas was my kinda place. I'm all about soup, sandwich, and salad. Reed had the BBQ Chicken salad. I had the Honey Bacon Club and the Thai Lobster Curry. Yum and yum. I want to go back. Like right now.

4. After dinner we saw Inception. Loved it! Go see it. You'll be pleasantly confused for a whole 2.5 hours. Just make sure you go late enough to miss the previews. . . unless you want nightmares, that is.

Reed even liked the movie---which is pretty rare for him. Especially considering it starred Leonardo DiCaprio. Reed's not exactly a fan. I on the other hand, thought he was great. I remember DiCaprio was my first Hollywood crush. I thought his long hair was sooo cute. Anyway. . . Really fun movie!

5. Speaking of crushes. . . If I were 14, I'm sure I'd have a crush on this kid.

He is so adorable, and man he can dance! He's got my vote this year! Well, not exactly. I never vote. But if I did, and if I were 14, I'd probably vote for him. A lot.

6. I've mentioned before that I love to read petitelefant. If I had time to read blogs every day, she'd be one of my daily reads. Awhile back she posted a clip titled Boys Will Be Girls. It's hysterical. Little bit of male humor *ahem* but totally funny.

7. This week I found out I'm a snob when it comes to clean sheets. I thought it was pretty normal to wash sheets and towels every week, but apparently I'm in the minority? This post for Not-Very-Good-Homemakers made me laugh. I read the post recently, and then a couple of days ago a friend made a comment to me about how she never gets around to washing sheets. Anyone who has ever stopped by my house unannounced can tell you that I could stand to read anything titled "Tips for Not-Very-Good Homemakers," but I guess washing sheets is something I'm good at! There may be roadkill on my kitchen floor, but I want fresh sheets when I climb into bed.

8. So, the baby has been sleeping really well this week (mostly). He has slept through the night 3 times in the last week, and I'm thrilled! Now if I could convince the other boys to stop wetting the bed, and having bad dreams maybe we could all get some sleep!

9. The wedgie brothers:

10. Gotta go finish To Kill a Mockingbird for book club. I know I've read it at least once or twice, but I remember almost nothing. Which means I'm thoroughly enjoying it, and I don't want the ending to be spoiled if I don't finish in time! Are you reading anything good?

I'm not even sure there could a funnier picture in the world than that last picture! You just made my day.

Love how you write, friend.

really people don't wash their sheets and towels weekly? (I'm being serious.) Glad you got a real date!

Yay for potty-trained children!!!! Great news there, Jess. :) And I completely feel your pain at being alone on the pew at church - with a newborn thrown in the mix. I get the "Oh, I'm so sorry" look a lot. Can you ask someone to sit with you? It works wonders for me!!!!

Glad to hear the potty training is going better! Don't worry about screaming kids at church, there are many monkeys running amuck in sacrament, mine included. We're raising boys, what do people expect? And I have no book reccomendation, because as you know I'm the laziest reader you've ever meet! Yeah for school next week!!!

I LOVE the wedgie brothers! I used to wash the sheets weekly, until the pullups started leaking EVERY time I had just washed them. Now I just wait until they have to be done.
