House (No Longer) For Sale

We put our house up for sale about a month ago, and today we took the sign down.  Talk about a roller coaster!  A couple of months ago some friends of ours told us they were moving.  They live around the corner from us and have an upgraded version of our floor plan, and a much better cul-de-sac lot---including a flat driveway---perfect for playing basketball.  We decided to make an offer on it, contingent on the sale of our home.  Over the past several weeks I have worn myself out fixing up and cleaning up our house  and getting ready to sell the house.  I've been pretty on  edge, wondering every time the phone rings if it is someone wanting to come see the house.  We've shown the house several times, but no offers yet.  I've also been spending time thinking about some of the changes I wanted to make and looking at paint colors.

Last week our friends accepted another offer on their home.  While we are happy that they have found good buyers who will be a good addition to our neighborhood, and happy that the timing has worked out so well for them, we are disappointed that it didn't work out for us.  From the beginning I knew that we would be competing for the same buyers and that it might not work out.  But I just felt good about it, and I got fully invested in the idea of moving.  Now I kind of feel like I just wasted the last two months of my life!  Yes, at least my house got cleaned and fixed up, but we all know how long that will last!  So now I've got the bug for change.  I think I need to paint!  Any suggestions for my kitchen/family room area?

These are some of the pictures from our listing:

BUMMER! That's seriously stinks. I can understand that you have the bug for change now. Don't go getting crazy ideas about moving anywhere else though. I like having you right there :)

Bummer. All of that for nothing! Or maybe it was just a trial run? It's a bit hard when you're competing with the same floor plan a street away. And if it makes you feel better, we have a great driveway for basketball but our neighborhood has a covenant that no hoops in driveways are allowed. So at least you can have a hoop on your slanted driveway :)

I wouldn't change a thing with your house, it looks incredible! I'm sorry things didn't work out though.

Sorry it didn't work out. It is hard when you have mentally moved on, but are physically still in the same place. But, I agree with Linn...your house looks great! And, my son has the same blue, orange, green, brown block quilt from Target. I still love it, even though he has had it for several years. :)
