Many of you have heard this story already, but I decided to share it on my blog anyway. Hopefully someone can give me a logical explanation to what happened. . .
During our trip to D.C. we spent a night in Williamsburg. Around 5 am the lamp on my nightstand started turning on and off. Fast. On. Off. On. Off. On. Off. And I could hear a clicking sound as if someone was pushing the little metal button in and out repeatedly. It was really dark in the room, and the light was blinding---and confusing. I was dead asleep, and mildly irritated by what was happening. The thing is that it happened probably four or five times. It would flip on and off several times, and then stop for a few minutes, and then start up again. Once I woke up enough to realize what was going on I finally unscrewed the light bulb. I worried that that clicking sound would continue if I didn't unplug the thing altogether, but I didn't want to get out of bed and dig around for the cord if I didn't have to. Anyway, taking the light bulb out did the trick. So strange. We went back to sleep, but the first thing that popped into my mind was---ghost! Perhaps in my sleep-induced fog I was influenced by the add I had read the night before for the nightly ghost stories walking tour of the city, but seriously, what the. . . ?
That morning I asked the girl at the front desk if she had had any other complaints. Her eyes got wide and she said, "I would have been outta there so fast!" She said there had not been any other complaints. I'm still scratching my head trying to come up with a logical explanation for all of this. Any suggestions?
