We were in the car a few weeks ago, and Michael was trying to ask Reed a question while Reed and I were having a conversation. Reed didn't answer, and out of frustration Michael finally called out, "Are your ears working?!"
Our ears are working just fine, thank you, but I'm not so sure about his. In August Michael got a bad ear infection that left fluid in his ears, leading to hearing loss. In September he had a procedure done to remove all the fluid from his ears at the same time that he had his tonsils taken out. Since then he has been able to hear much better, but he's also had two ear infections. The latest was over a week ago. He is not complaining that his ears hurt, but I think he's starting to lose his hearing again. He can't hear me well, and he's staring to mumble. This morning he asked me to get down his "Blinkin' Blocks" (aka Lincoln Logs). We're going back to the ENT on Thursday to get his ears checked out again. I hope he doesn't need to get tubes in his ears. Poor kid. What a pain.
