Krysta gave me a great set of cookie cutters for Christmas, and Michael has been dying to try them out. We had so many goodies around our house that I didn't want to even think about making cookies until now (hard to believe---I know!). I remember decorating sugar cookies with my mom as a kid, but I don't think I've ever actually made them myself. My kids are so deprived! My friend Stephanie makes the best sugar cookies I've ever tasted, and she was kind enough to share the recipe with me today. Ty has the same nasty cold that Blake has been battling, and Michael may be headed in the same direction, so I decided we needed to stay home today, and I needed something to break up the day. They had fun, but didn't last long. Having cookies break was just more than Ty could handle. So, he stole the food coloring and headed into the family room to watch Pete's Dragon for the third time today. Luckily, Michael gave me the heads up and I retrieved the food coloring before I had to re-carpet the entire main level. Ty had managed to get all of the lids off, but he hadn't spilled it on the floor yet. Thank goodness! Blake didn't want to miss out on the action either. He reached so far to get a hold of the cookie cutters that he finally managed to escape his Bumbo chair. Luckily I was standing right next to him and was able to catch him, although he does have a little bonk on his forehead.
I also managed to put away my Christmas decorations today. Yes, I know it is half way through January, but I had a hard time letting go of my Christmas tree this year. I think it's because the time between Christmas and spring always seems to last FOREVER! I'm sure you can tell from the color of my cookies that I'm a little anxious for spring to arrive. I know I've got a long wait ahead of me, but I can dream, right?

I hope the recipe worked for you...the cookies look delicious!
Any chance Stephanie will let you share the best sugar cookie recipe ever? I'm thinking about making some Valentine sugar cookies this week and freezing them. I'm trying to clear my schedule for the entire month of February to help me adjust to life with three boys a little better.
Those look YUMMY! Hope the kids had fun helping you!
Corinne, I don't know if I should post Stephanie's recipe on my blog, but I'll email you. They turned out great.
