We had the GE repairman at our home yesterday. I paid him $70 to tell me that I need a new dishwasher and that the back burner on my stove is broken. By the way, did I mention that these appliances are just over 3 years old? Am I old fashioned to think that appliances should last longer than that? The repairman gave me a coupon for a new GE dishwasher and told me to be sure an buy the extended warranty next time. I think that if they are selling a quality item, the warranty should be included with the purchase price. This shows they stand by their product. What a rip off. Hopefully this time I'll be able to get a dishwasher that actually cleans my dishes without me having to wash them first. I would be upset even if these appliances were cheap-o models , but the fact that they were both upgraded make it even worse.
A couple of months ago, the Aspen Water guy to come take a look at my water softener. This is the 4th time they've been here since we bought the stupid thing. I paid him $70 to tell me that the last guy who came forgot to set the cycles according to the hard water level in our area. The last guy who came was the one who replaced the entire computer on the water softener because it was a "lemon." Aaargh!
Right now we are down to one working telephone from the 5 Uniden phone we have purchased since we moved in. Granted, I did accidentally put one of them in the washing machine with my sheets, but the other 3 just stopped working. Again, these were not cheap phones. Tomorrow I get to head to Target to replace the 9 Ventaire bottles I bought for Blake when he was born. They are all leaking out the bottom. Not just a little bit either. A lot! I tried to buy some really cheap bottles as a replacement, but Blake is now spitting up gallons. This is so frustrating! I am sick of spending money on things that have just stopped working! I can only imagine what the repair bills are going to be like once my house is 10 years old. I might as well start saving my pennies now.

Oh I totally agree. I mean our parents and grandparents have applicances that are 20+ years old. Our $600 washer is all messed up! What happened to the companies that used to care about making a quality product! We need to start making more of an effort as consumers to buy things built in the USA and demand the type of service/customer care that the generation before us had!
What a huge bummer - that really stinks. Especially the water softener story. That company should have comped you the repair price if their OWN guy couldn't get it right! On a happier note, I'm glad you're feeling better and I am really looking forward to seeing you soon!!!!
