Ten for Tuesday 2.23.09 Spring Fever Edition

1. I've got spring fever.

2. Is it time for flip flops yet? I'm so sick of wearing socks!

3. Look what's growing in my yard. Yippee!

4. Look what's growing in my kitchen.

5. Look what's growing on my shower curtain. . . Just kidding. . . Seriously though, it's probably time for a little spring cleaning at my house.

6. Our yard is a soggy, dirty mess. And somehow it all keeps making it's way through our window wells down into the basement. We got a bid from a contractor who thought he could fix the problem. . . for $950-$1350 per window well. So, Reed decided to try and do some of the work himself. It's amazing how long it takes to shovel gravel.

Poor Reed. I woke up a few days ago to a loud banging noise and a yell from downstairs. In my confused, sleepy state I ran down to find Reed covered from head to toe in dirty water. Before heading out the door for work he decided to check for water in the basement. Sure enough, water was all over. So he cleaned it all up with the wet vac and tried to carry the full tank from the wet vac up the stairs. Then he tripped over my pillow project that I had left out on the landing. He fell down the stairs and scraped himself up pretty good. And he got soaking wet. What a pain. We've been thinking about finishing the basement, but we really can't do that until we get this water problem taken care of.

7. This darling child has discovered the love of markers. Crayons will no longer do. Too bad he doesn't understand the rules that go along with using markers. . . like no coloring on your face, or the wall, or pretty much anything besides paper.

Everyone has been on my case about how long his hair is getting, but I just can't bring my cheap self to pay $15 every few weeks to take him to Snippits for a trim. So I tried to trim it myself. Bad idea. He did not sit still for more that 10 seconds, and I only got a couple of snips above the eyes. The resulting look is getting close to a mullet. Will he ever forgive me? I'm not sure he'll ever forgive me for destroying his binky either, but that's another story. . .

8. I got to take the day off on Saturday and go skiing with my family. Everyone smoked me. . . especially my Grandpa. I would be embarrassed about that except for the fact that he is a really excellent skier and makes everything look so easy. I haven't been skiing for a very long time, and my muscles are still feeling it! Saturday was the most beautiful day I can ever remember being on the slopes. It was warm with blue skies. Absolutely glorious! If winter down in the valley looked a little more like that I might enjoy it more. As it is, I cannot wait for it to be over!

9. Last week I went to a going away party for a couple of my friends who are moving out of the neighborhood. So sad. I don't like this kind of change. Don't you people know you are supposed to stay here forever?! I don't like having to say goodbye after getting attached.

10. I have been having MAJOR chocolate cravings. Although I always have an insatiable sweet tooth, I don't usually NEED to have chocolate. But lately I NEED! Is it Easter yet? Cadbury's sounds delicious right about now.

While I do envy the space your basement provides, I do not envy the troubles you are having down there. It sounds like a never-ending thing.

And I think Blake's hair looked adorable in that picture. Of course, I just cut Logan's hair today and did a little more than usual it seems. I am missing his long curls! Why do people feel like they need to tell you when they think your child needs a hair cut? Drives me crazy!!

I hear you on the chocolate crave. Tonight I resorted to eating burnt black day old cookies to satisfy my chocolate need.

I always give Austin a dum dum sucker when I cut his hair - and I do it while he's taking a bath so he can't move too far. If he doesn't hold still I tell him to give me the sucker back or let me cut his hair. The only problem with that is you have to use scissors. Bath and electric buzzers would not be a good idea!

Glad you had fun skiing! Sounds like my last ski trip. That's when I decided I needed to start working out because I don't ever remember being that sore after going skiing before. Maybe I'm just getting old...

Have you ever tried Color Wonder markers? Spencer loves them, and he's younger than Blake. They only write on the special paper they come with, so you don't have to worry about "artwork" appearing on your walls or self-made tattoos staining your kids' bodies.

And ditto to the chocolate. But I'm pretty sure I NEED it. :)

I'm always amazed to see everyone's flowers begining to come up this time of year we still have snow covering everywhere! As far as hair cuts go, I just strap logan into his chair, give him something sticky to chew on and give him a buzz, you can't mess that up! If I do a bad job it doesn't matter it grows back super fast! Good luck!
