1. This week Blake has been throwing an absolute fit at every meal time. Why? Because he does not want to sit in his high chair, and he does not want to wear a bib. He wants to join the big people at the big table. With Michael and Ty I gave in and let them sit at the table when they wanted to, but it was such a mess, and I regretted it. This time around I am bound and determined to make that child stay in the high chair longer. But seriously, this will be a battle of wills. Blake is bound and determined to get his way. Who will win? Any guesses?
This is one of the many reasons why I really do not want Blake sitting at the table next to me.
2. On a happier note, Blake is pretty much done with his binky. Can I get a hip, hip, hooray?! This has actually been a rough couple of weeks for him. But, I am so happy to say that he no longer needs it at bed time. Aaaahhh! (That's me. Breathing a sigh of relief.)
3. In an effort to get Blake to talk a little more I rented some Signing Time videos from the library. I let the kids watch them in the car when we run errands. I'm not so sure that was a great idea. Usually I only let the kids watch a video in the car when we're driving long distance. I don't want them bugging me about videos every. single. time. we get in the car. But, ever since I got the Signing Time videos, whenever we get in the car Blake throws a fit until the movie comes on. This probably isn't the best habit to get into, but it sure is nice to have the kids quiet when they ride in the back of the car.
4. Some of you may know that my little Ty can be somewhat of a ladies man. He seems to have a thing for blonds with cute short haircuts. His current mega-crush of the moment is his friend Annalee. She really is darling, and he loves to play at her house. Well, last week after I picked Ty up from playing, Annalee's mom called to let me know that Ty and her oldest son Jay had been kissing the girls at her house that afternoon. When I asked Ty about it he got a big smile on his face. I can tell I'm going to have to keep my eye on that one!
5. Michael on the other hand is not interested in girls whatsoever. He had pictures with his basketball team on Saturday. When I asked him why he wouldn't smile for the pictures he said, "I don't like to smile at ladies." Oh brother.
Michael had a really fun time playing basketball this year and having his dad be the coach. Last week he made his very first basket. Way to go Michael!
It's hard to say what his favorite thing about playing sports is. It's definitely a toss up between getting treats at the end of the game and goofing off with his buddies. Michael loves to get a laugh.
6. Yesterday Michael's friend Ben played at our house after school. Michael had made him all kinds of paper creations that morning and was insistent that I save them for Ben. So, I shoved it all in Ben's backpack and hoped his mom would forgive me for sending it all her way. Well, today she got me back. Michael came home with a backpack stuffed with papers. While I was busy getting dinner group food out the door (BTW, I managed to ruin rice made in the rice cooker. I didn't know that was possible. . . ), he taped his lovely papers all over the house. Inside and out. I love it! It cracks me up that he is so proud of his work that he wants to show the whole neighborhood.
7. On Saturday my brother Andrew got to baptize his girlfriend (now fiance!) Janina ( I don't think I spelled that right.). It was a neat day and we were so glad we could be there. We were able to meet her family and see her engagement ring. Andrew is very happy, and we're excited to have Janina join our family soon.
8. I had a short burst of productivity last week and got going on a few projects. I actually finished my arms warmers. Wahoo! It always feels good to finish something. I gave a pair to Dana for her birthday and kept one for myself. I think she liked them---although she says she really likes the ones I gave her last year, which were longer. If I make another pair maybe I'll make them longer next time. Still trying to figure out if I can wear them without getting funny looks.
I should be a hand model. Don't you think?
9. I'm trying to get over a miserable cold that came on strong last week. Let me tell you the best thing about having a cold: NYQUIL! Aaaahh. I love Nyquil. Is there anything better than waking up in the morning and knowing that you slept all through the night without any interruptions? Seriously. I wish I could sleep like that every night.
10. I just heard about this fun exhibit at the MOA, and I think it would be a lot of fun to take the kids to. Maybe. Do you think they are old enough?

While true I haven't been excited about all of the stuff Michael has been giving Ben, I actually did not know they were inside creating a bunch of pictures. I was out with the kids and they were originally playing outside with Z. I didn't realize they went in the house until I went looking for them. I am glad they have found another way to spend their afternoons other than the Wii. Finally at least Michael used tape. I was busy making dinner while Ben used push pin's to put his up all over the house.
The story about Ty is hilarious! Ha ha! And hallelujuah for you that the binki is gone. :)
I love the hand warmers! Does this mean my Yasi won't have a chance with Ty since she's a burnette?
I'm way behind on blog posts, but if you do go to the Moa and want some company, I need a good reason to get myself down there to see that exhibit (no offense if you've already gone or it doesn't work out). And I love Michael's "I don't smile for ladies." It cracks me up every time I hear that story.
The Walter Wick exhibit looks so fun. I think I'll have to check it out when I'm in Utah this summer....
