Easter Fun!

Two holidays in one week. . . the kids were in heaven! On Saturday we went out to the city Easter egg hunt, which was pure madness. They separated the kids into different fields for different age groups, so Michael was on the opposite side of the park from Ty this year. For some reason, they didn't open the gates to the fields until a few minutes before the hunt began, so of course there was a huge bottleneck, and some of the kids couldn't get onto the field in time. Lame. Anyway, Ty wasn't going to be able to get through the gate fast enough, so his smart-thinking Dad tossed him over the fence. He had free range on one side of the field and brought in a haul of eggs. Super fun! Michael and Ty each got a bucket full of eggs, and Blake got a cute little stuffed animal. I should have known better, but I gave Blake his little toy in the car, and a few minutes later I could hear him gagging. I pulled over just in time to pull the tag out of his mouth. That poor kid couldn't have jelly beans, so he figured paper was the next best thing. Yuck! I have to be careful with him---he'll eat anything.

Later we went over to Great Nana's house for the annual egg coloring, egg hunt, and sugar fest. The kids are so lucky to have a great grandma who has so much energy and loves to plan fun traditions for the kids.

Ty is finally getting old enough to really enjoy this. Michael of course loves anything to do with arts an crafts, and probably colored close to 2 dozen eggs all by himself---and none of them were pink.

So happy about all of this "let's go look for candy" business.

Blake joining in the festivities. A bit confused about what holiday it is.

This is what we got to hunt for on Sunday morning. There are not many things that can make me happier than Cadbury Creme Eggs, Cadbury Mini Eggs, and Jelly beans! Easter candy is definitely the best candy of the year.

Seriously, between all of the egg hunts, the Easter baskets, and the goodies from both sets of grandparents, we have enough candy to last until Christmas. Of course, it will probably be gone by next weekend. We're not very good at making it last at our house.

There were no pictures of the boys in their cute new church clothes because a) I didn't buy any this year (maybe I'll hit the clearance sales) b) the boys had chocolate smeared all over their clean white shirts by the time church rolled around, and c) Michael turfed it on his scooter last week and has scrapes all over his face. He wasn't really up for a photo shoot. Maybe next week. . .

To top off the day, we enjoyed beautiful weather, Reed had no meetings, and my mom made a delicious dinner that I did not have to cook. Can we have Easter every weekend?

So I noticed the Easter Bunny left a Mom and Dad Basket in one of the photos. That is a great idea I'll have to make a mental not for next year. For some reason the kids don't think I should eat there candy

Looks like you guys had a great Easter! I totally forgot about the Easter Egg Hunt. I am such a nerd. Sounds like Roman probably wouldnt have had much luck anyways. :)
You can see the look on Michael's face that he is having such a blast coloring eggs. SOO CUTE!

That cracks me up that Michael wouldn't dye any eggs pink!

Austin ate about 10 jelly beans before I realized he was swallowing them whole. I'm not sure why he loved them so much if he wasn't even biting into them.

Oh, Cadbury Mini Eggs!!! I could seriously eat a whole bag in a day! Good thing they're off the shelves for another year.
