Ten for Tuesday 3.11.08

My friend Ali puts a list up on her blog every week called "Ten For Tuesday" sharing highlights from her week. I love the idea and think it's a great way to record what we've been up to. I've been wanting to copy her idea but didn't want to be a total copycat. I thought about calling my list the "Friday News Roundup" in honor of my favorite radio program, but Friday is not generally a good blogging day for me. So, I've resorted to being a total copycat. Forgive me Ali! Here's my list for the week:
1. About a month ago, Michael and Ty went to a birthday party and came home with two goldfish. They loved it, I wasn't so thrilled. Let's just say I'm not an animal lover. I've been not-so-secretly hoping they would die so I could get them off my counter, but I couldn't bring myself to starve them to death. Well, on Sunday night the gray one finally went belly-up. It gave me the creeps, so I asked Reed to flush him. Michael was upset the next day when he found out. He cried a bit, but mostly because it was his fish that died, and not Ty's. He's over it now, and I hope the orange one goes soon so he can join his buddy in fish heaven.
2. This week the weather man said that the coldest months are over. Can I hear a "hip, hip, hooray!" about twelve times over?! I am really enjoying the extra hours of daylight since Sunday. It feels like I get an extra hour of sleep in the morning because my kids still haven't adjusted to the time change.
3. Prevacid: Where have you been all my life? The doctor finally suggested Prevacid for Blake's spit up problem, and it has worked wonders. He still spits up, but only about once a day, and it doesn't usually soak through 3 layers of clothing. I wish we had started using this months ago.
4. This was a big week for Michael. He got to go to a meeting at the elementary school for new Kindergartners. (Am I really old enough to have a Kindergartner?) He also got to go ride his scooter at Classic Skating with some of his friends. Very fun. Last Tuesday Michael got tubes put in his ears at Primary Children's. He was very brave and did everything the nurses asked him to do. He got to decorate a little "buddy" to take into surgery with him and he said "Bad thing Ty couldn't come and get a buddy too!" Anyway, this was way easier than getting his tonsils out.
5. Unfortunately, on Saturday Reed's basketball team lost their region game. Reed came home "fighting mad," and had to go take a nice cold shower. The kids are disappointed they won't get to go watch him play.
6. Last night I checked out a book from the library titled "Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toilets." What is my life coming to?!
7. Blake is really getting around now. He has really learned how to pull himself up to standing, which has caused quite a few bumps and bruises, and also some funny situations. He was nearly able to climb head first into the tub with Michael and Ty the other day. Yesterday he pulled up onto a bin full of blocks. When he went to reach for something on the other side he got high centered and was just kicking his little arms and legs trying to get down. Very cute! I just found him two stairs up on the staircase. Not so cute.
8. I found a preschool for Ty next year. He's going to be so excited that he is finally big enough to go!
9. Celebrity Sighting: I saw the back of Mitt Romney's head at the Market Street Grill on Saturday night!
10. New vocabulary word: Stagflation. It means a prolonged period of increased inflation and increased unemployment. Just thought I'd share since I've been hearing the word buzz around the news lately. By the way, not so excited about gas hitting $3.20 a gallon.

Very Cute. Now I have something to look forward too on Tuesdays! I am with you on the goldfish. Yesterday I looked at ours and he had black all over his face, aparently he grew a fungus because I had not changed the water for a while. EWWWW. I love seeing Michael out there on his scooter. He is so big!

Way to be a total copycat, Jess. :) Kidding. I actually copied it from a friend too, so no worries. I hear you on the Prevacid. It's done wonders for Spencer. I'm glad Blake's getting some relief from it, too. Sure is nice not to have to wash EVERYTHING every day or two, isn't it?

Those poor little fish. But I agree, pets are more trouble than fun. Although I'm probably the only one who feels that way around here since there are more dogs than kids in Seattle.

I loved the post. I want to copy too but that would probably be too much copying. Is it?? I do not use my blog as a journal but if I did that would be something that could make a great weekly journal entry.
