Ten for Tuesday 7.29.08

I am so exhausted!!! Read on, and you'll understand why. . .
1. Last week Valerie and I decided to try some interval training during our morning runs. The idea is to run HARD for 1 minute, and then walk for 2 minutes and repeat 5 times. Supposedly this is a better workout than just jogging the whole time, and you can go for less time with better results. The first time we tried this I thought I was going to die. Honestly! I thought that a minute wasn't much time, and the first time we ran it, I took off like a bullet. About 15 seconds later my lungs were on fire! A minute is a very long time! By the 5th set, I didn't think I could run one more second. I am such a wimp!
2. I need to vent for a second here. . . Who are the MORONS who voted to let Mark stay and Will go home?! SYTYCD fans will understand. Will was one of my favorites, and I'm so sad to see him leave. I may actually have to start voting. . . Probably not. . .
3. A few days ago Ty bumped his tooth loose and cut his gums pretty bad. I kind of forgot about it, except that I've noticed that his bottom teeth are a bit crooked. I just thought he had inherited his Grandpa's crooked bottom teeth. Well, yesterday he bumped his tooth and it started bleeding again. I decided to call the dentist, and I took him in for his first cleaning and exam this morning. $148 later I was told that Ty has two cavities and that his tooth may die and/or abscess and need to be removed later on. Lovely. Nothing like a trip to the dentist to make you feel like mother of the year. . . At least we got some hot cookies out of the deal.
4. Just got a notice that our property taxes are going up $409 over last year. Great.
5. These pictures of Blake pretty much explain how I am feeling right about now. He fell asleep in his high chair two days in a row. Poor kid needs more sleep!

6. On the 24th of July we had a fun BBQ with friends from the neighborhood. Great food and good company. Can't beat that!
I loved this picture. Ty is eating a popsicle in his long sleeved shirt. Michael is plugging his ears, and Blake has his finger up his nose!
7. On Friday we drove up the canyon to go camping with my family. Everyone was able to come except Andrew. We actually talked my Mom into coming. We had a great time, but camping is a lot of work! I completely shirked my duties as the packer, and left my pillow and Reed's pillow at home. That was one really miserable night. I've since learned that we are not allowed to bring pillows on trek next week, some I'm trying to gear up for a little more misery!
Blake and Grandpa having a chat.
Blake was one happy camper. This kid seriously loves to eat dirt. It must be an acquired taste. He slept so well in his pack n' play and didn't make a peep all night.
Ryan and Dana played the guitar for us, and Alison inspired us to make tin foil dinners on the coals. We also had a really yummy breakfast casserole made in the dutch oven. Lots of fun, but I'll be doing laundry for a long time!
8. We got home from camping, got ourselves cleaned up, and then headed over to Jimmy's 1st birthday party. Jimmy and Blake are just about the same age, and are destined to be great friends! Don't you love this picture?! We just love Jimmy, and are so happy to have him in our family.
I forgot my camera, and could have kicked myself! Luckily, Tiff posted these pictures, and I stole them. Tiffany is seriously insane! Insane in a good way. Insanely talented and creative. Check out these decorations that she sewed. And, as always, the food was so good!
These are the party favors we came home with. She designed and printed the adorable stickers on those bags. Love it.
9. After that party we raced off to go to another one! This was a big family-style birthday for one of our neighbor friends. Kristy went all out. She made great food for the adults and the kids. She had fun games and crafts, and the kids ran wild and had a great time. The cake was to die for. I could get used to having other people cook for me and sitting around socializing with good friends! Let's do it again!
10. On Monday the kids wanted to pull out the pool, so we called some friends over and had a great afternoon. This is a pretty typical afternoon around our neighborhood. Someone sets up the pool, and everyone sets up camp for the afternoon with camp chairs, umbrellas and snacks. The kids had a great time and played all afternoon. My neighbor Chuck was definitely the most popular when he showed up with an extra umbrella and a bag full of popsicles. I have such great neighbors and friends. Part of me never wants summer to end, and part of me knows that if this doesn't end soon, I will collapse from exhaustion!
By the way, doesn't anyone have a memory of me?! Are you all finished playing the game? Only 2 comments? Come on!

Wow! You posted this one while I was writing my memory. Kind of crazy to think we're both on your blog at the same time!

Sounds like you have plenty of reasons to be exhausted. You've had such a busy summer and their is still another month to go. $409 raise, thats' crazy. I was complaining about my $70 raise guess I should keep my mouth shut now. I'm so glad that you guys were able to come to Tiare's Birthday. I'm shocked you did after just coming from another party plus camping the night before plus a BBQ the night before that. You're a party animal!!!

Okay, sooo much to comment on here. First of all, don't feel too bad about Ty and the dentist. We are surely paying for our dentist's kids to go to college just with Kadyn. Whenever she takes a hard fall it is smack dab on her front teeth. I will have to post some pictures sometime.

Also, who ARE the insane people who voted for Mark and not Will? I am thinking that Mark just has all of Hawaii voting for him (isn't that where he is from)? I love all the other dancers and just cannot pick a favorite.

Lastly, I loved your pictures and completely relate to Blake eating dirt. What is it with little boys and dirt? Anyway, long post, long comment . . . :)

Oh yes, the dentist. Did you see my post about Miles' tooth? Yeah. I feel you.
Camping without a pillow? You have to do that for trek? Come on! Pioneers had pillows, I'm sure of it! They're just being unnecessarily cruel.
We miss not getting the day off for July 24th. Remember to live it up for me every year!
I LOVE YOUR STAYCATION IDEA! How smart are you?! We paid SO MUCH for gas this year! I'm definitely implementing a staycation soon!

I feel your pain with the property tax raise...ours are going up $304 over last year. Thanks for having enough energy to put out the pool on Monday.

Our property taxes actually stayed the same, but the city valued our house at $8000 less than what we paid for it. That sort of hurts in it's own way too.

Sounds like you had a great staycation. I'm not too keen on the idea myself because it feels like Dan gets a break and I get to do basically the same thing every day.

Amen sister! I think the month of July is always an exhausting one. I've enjoyed catching up on all the fun you've had. 1)Will was my favorite too. I almost stopped watching after that 2)Your "staycation" sounded like fun! Does the Ogden Tree House have fun stuff for girls? 3)I love seeing pictures of how big your siblings are geting 4) I'm proud of your drive to exercise! 5) We need to get together when life settles down a bit!
