I got behind in my book reviews, and it's been so hard to catch up! The next few posts are reviews of the books I've read over the last few months. I made a goal at the beginning of the year to read 20 books, and as you will see, I'm hopelessly behind. I'm going to have to seriously pick up the pace if I'm going to read 7 more books by the end of the year. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the reviews, and hopefully you'll see a book that you'd like to read yourself. Chime in if you've read these books and if you agree or disagree with my review. Also, let me know if you have any books that I need to read! Thanks!
Wish You Well by David Baldacci reminded me a bit of The Last Juror by John Grisham. Both writers typically write legal thrillers, and both took a break to write a slow-paced southern drama---with a little bit of legal action. This book also reminded me of To Kill a Mockingbird, but although good, the writing was nowhere near "classic" level. It is the story of 14-year-old Lou and her 7-year-old brother Oz who leave the big city and go to live with their great-grandmother Louisa on her farm in Virginia. I enjoyed the pace of this book, and the glimpse into farm life. I also enjoyed the characters. The ending was fairly predictable---and very Perry-Mason-esque. This book was good (but not great), and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, easy read.

20 books in 1 year?! With 3 boys?! You're crazy. If I was really into reading I might set a goal for 5 a year, but right now I'm at about 1 per year. Maybe reading more would help my writing. I'm a terrible, boring writing.
Thanks for all the book reviews. I saw some I'm going to check out at the library one of these days. By the way, Count of Monte Cristo is my all time favorite!!!!
Also, I agree about Robyn McKinley. I've read several of hers over the years and by far her best book is Beauty. The others aren't nearly as good.
