After much begging, Michael was allowed to play football this year. Honestly, I was really hoping he would try it out and realize that it was a lot of running, push ups, and bruising, and decide that football wasn't for him. I have serious reservations about him playing football. It seems every day I hear something on the news about the dangers of this sport. Anyway, against my better judgement, Michael played this year, and it turned out to be a really great experience for him. He loved all of it - even practice. He had fantastic coaches, and really developed as an athlete and team player. The push ups and bruises were all worth it when he caught a pass, or had a great kick off. Michael was the team kicker, and played wide receiver. Toward the end of the season, he also got to play on the defensive line. He gained a lot of confidence and really came to love football.
Football overtook our schedules for quite awhile. It's intense! Practice was 4x a week, and games on Saturdays. I was so lucky to be part of a great carpool, but I have to say, when the car was full of boys after practice, it stank! The season ran long because they were undefeated and went all the way through the playoffs to win the Mini Bowl! It was so fun for Michael to be able to play on both the Davis High field and also the Weber State field.
I will be honest and say that I enjoyed the games, and I loved watching Michael grow during this experience. But, I'm still conflicted about football. Ah. . . what to do?! Now Ty is begging to play too. . .
Michael had 2 touchdowns during the season. Way to go!!! One of his coaches was nice enough to share video with us. Enjoy!
