We took quick trip down to Moab this summer with friends of ours. It was our first time in Moab, but hopefully not the last. The desert landscape was just beautiful. Blue skies and red rock! Gorgeous! The kids absolutely LOVED climbing the rocks and playing in the dirt. Plus, everything is more fun when you go with friends! We made plans to go in July and stay at a camp ground with our friends. Valerie organized the trip, and we were happy to tag along. Luckily Reed said yes before he thought it through! Once his Mom reminded him how hot it gets in Moab in July, Reed had serious second thoughts about going! He even hauled a huge fan and extension chord with us in hope that he could run the fan in our tent at night. No such luck! I have to admit that it was hot in the tent, but we had such a great time, it was worth the heat.
Can't go camping without making s'mores!
One thing that became apparent on this trip is that we as a family are s-l-o-w. We were always the last ones dressed, finished eating, loaded into the car, etc. Our friends were constantly waiting for us! On our first morning we headed out to Arches, and when we got to the entrance Reed discovered he didn't have his wallet with him. We drove back to camp and searched. He was convinced that the shady looking foreigners in the bathroom had pick-pocketed him! So he cancelled his credit cards - only to find the wallet later in the tent! What a relief!
Sand Dune Arch
Some friends told us about a natural "waterslide" in the area. It was a bit of an adventure finding the right spot, but it was so nice to cool off in the water. The kids got to practice their cliff diving!
We also visited Hole N' The Rock, which is a crazy 5,000 square foot home carved in the side of this rock. The highlights were the enormous bath tub, and the stuffed donkey (the stuff of nightmares!).
Can you spot Ty in the tree? He is a champion climber!
It's pretty rare to get the whole family behind the camera together!
