10 for Tuesday 4.29.08

1. Hi. My name is Jessica, and I am addicted to sugar. Seriously. Counting Weight Watchers points pretty much went out the window the minute I started making treats for my sister Alison's bridal shower. Anyone know a good way to stop craving sugar?

2. Alison's shower was a lot of fun. There was good food, and I got to visit with my sisters, cousins and grandparents.

3. This week I was introduced to Guitar Hero. Let's just say it's probably a good thing we don't have a Wii, because it is so fun to play and I'm sure I'd get addicted way too easily.

4. Speaking of addiction. . . is it Thursday yet?! I loved last weeks episode of LOST, and I can't wait for more. I love Ben's character. Anyone else?

5. Reed and I did sealings at the temple on Saturday night. The sealer told us that he had performed a sealing the week before for an odd couple. One spoke English, and the other spoke Thai, and neither of them knew the other's language. The bride's sister was there to interpret for the couple, and the sealer wondered whether she would be going on the honeymoon as well. As we were leaving I told Reed I didn't know how anyone could marry someone who didn't even speak their language. He said, "Never underestimate the importance of body language!" Then he did a little dance. I don't know why, but that made me giggle all night! He was so pleased that I actually laughed at loud at one of his jokes!
6. Reed is really sweet to me. I got my hair cut on Friday and he repeatedly told me how much he liked my haircut. He is so nice to give sincere compliments.
7. Reed took Michael and Ty to ride Frontrunner on Saturday. The boys were so excited to ride on a real train! I think Reed was just excited to have a Saturday without having to work on my To Do list!
8. Last week's attempt at potty training was a bust. Ty just wasn't quite ready, and I was just too busy last week to be able to really focus and help him along. By Wednesday afternoon (after two messy accidents) Ty and I decided it would be okay for him to start wearing diapers again. I think we'll give it a few months before we try again.
9. Blake has red sores all over his body---including inside his mouth, and probably down his throat. His bottom has blisters all over it. Blisters! Poor kid. He is so miserable. Watch out when the painkillers wear off. The doctor gave me an antibiotic (hallelujah!). She also said that if he has a sinus infection the antibiotic will clear it up. If his stuffy nose doesn't clear up, then the problem is probably allergies, and I can try Zyrtec. She also said that his recent (and frequent) bouts of diarrhea may be caused by a milk allergy. I've been wondering for awhile if he is lactose intolerant. Hopefully we can make some changes so that he's not so miserable all the time---and then hopefully he'll start sleeping. I don't think I can keep up with interrupted sleep much longer.

10. I taught the boys how to play hopscotch today. It was so funny watching them try to hop on one foot without falling over!

Yes, Michael's shoes are on the wrong feet. We're working on that one!

Seriously.. you are such a good mom. Teaching your boys hopscotch! Looks like you had a really busy week! I am at work and taking a little break to read your blog as I needed some cheerful entertainment. It totally worked, thanks!

I'm not helping I know but everyoone should know that tonight is 31 cent scoop night at Baskin Robbins!! Up to 10 scoops for only 3 bucks. We can all run a little harder tomorrow right?
I bet Reed is so happy that you shared his little dancing story because we are all laughing out loud at his joke now :)

Oh, poor Blake ... and poor you! How frustrating! Can't wait to see your haircut - hope you liked Bonnie!

Poor little Blake! I hope he gets better soon! And yes, I'm addicted to LOST too. I like the creativity of Ben's character, but he gives me the creeps and I can't yet figure out if he has any goodness in him. Since Zach and I have a little more free time at night, I told him I want to start watching American Idol - another show I'm addicted to.
You are not the only one addicted to sugar! I think it's going to be a serious challenge the rest of my life.

My only tip for curbing the sugar cravings...cold turkey. Terrible tip, but I am ten days in. I have no control in this area, so I have to go completely off every once in a while. Horrible.

That sounds like something my dad would say. Was he the sealer at your session? I know there are plenty of sealers at the Bountiful Temple, but you never know.

You guys are the best! Hope Blake recovers quickly.

Love that your boys love hopscotch. THat is all my kids ever want to do. Hopefully Blake recovers so quickly and you can actually get some sleep.

I'm seriously addicted to sugar too and it doesn't help that summer is just around the corner (Cherry Hill candy store, here I come!)

Also, at least you tried potty training Ty. I've just completely avoided it with Lizzie. I think turning the big #3 tomorrow will be more of a motivation to just get it done.

It was good to see you last night at book club. I loved the haircut!!

Poor Blake! It's so hard when they're uncomfortable...I hope he feels better soon.
I have no idea how to get off of sugar. When you find out, let me know. It's my vice.
I love that Michael's shoes are on the wrong feet. Cameron's always are, too. My brother once pointed out to me that while you would think there is a a 50% chance they would get them on the correct feet, they're on the wrong feet 90%of the time.

I can't even imagine Reed doing a little dance and I want to see a picture of your hair. Poor Blake....my kids have never had a rash but that looks like it hurts or is itchy or something. Mia puts her shoes on backwards sometimes too but after I pointed it out enough times she asks me now if she is unsure. Mia loves to play hopscotch.....we need to get the chalk out again soon.
