I'm in charge of Humanitarian service in our Relief Society, and I decided I needed to blog about the service project we did last week, since it was so fun, and it completely consumed most of my free time for the last little while. I feel good about all of the work we got done, but I have to admit I'm glad the activity is over. It was really stressful to plan, and there were several nights I was awake in bed thinking about all of the things I needed to make sure not to forget. Honestly, I feel like you need a degree in Event Planning in order to pull off something like this, and there is no way I could have done this without having been in Enrichment a couple of years ago. Who knew that you needed 4 different sets of keys from 4 different people in order to open the doors to the church, the library, the clerk's office, and the RS cabinets? Luckily, I did, because I learned my lesson the hard way last year when we did this. I was definitely more prepared this year than last year, and that helped the whole activity go much smoother. There is also no way I could have pulled this off without many people spending hours of their time and talents to help me. I am always amazed at how many people have served me in this ward when I've had a baby or need help with a calling. It makes me realize that I need to step it up and look for opportunities to serve others around me---even in small ways.
This is how we spent our Saturday:
We assembled approximately 800 hygiene kits.
We sewed hand puppets.
We tied 3 large quilts.
We were so busy, we didn't have enough time to sit down and enjoy our breakfast! There was SO much food left over. I'll definitely have to cut back if we do this again next year.

Okay got to say it again - You did a great job!! I'm so gald that you were in charge again this year. I look forward to doing this project again next year and I'm hoping that you are in charge again. I know that's so cruel but you really did a great job.It was so much fun! Thanks for putting in all the stressful hours into it to make it look like it was all a piece of cake for you on the day of. Did that sentence make any sense? Oh well, if you need any help on the mini projects let me know. I volunteer to be the one working on the floor under the quilt anyday!
We had so m;cuh fun quilting, coloring and sanding. I know it was totally crazy for you but it was a great time to all who went.
Wow Jess! I'm impressed. Can I hire you to be on my enrichment committee? I think I'll stick to planning enrichment for just the sisters vs. the WHOLE ward. Way to go and hopefully now you can relax a little or at least catch up on all you put on hold.
Only you could have pulled this off!
