Ten for Tuesday 4.15.08

1. I'm tired. Really.

2. And cold. Please Mother Nature, send us some nice weather! No more snow!

3. This is week #3 of getting up at 6:15 to get out and exercise. I don't think I'll ever get used to early mornings. I know I'm a wimp, but getting up before the sun is against my nature!

4. Monday was the day I started to count my Weight Watchers points again. What a drag. I am determined to fit back into my pants this summer, but it is no fun getting to that point. Don't you wish Chocolate chip cookies were negative calories?

5. Yesterday our sprinklers came on. Apparently we forgot to turn close the water valve when they turned off the water last fall. Michael was so excited to jump through the water! In the five minutes it took me to go to the front yard and turn off the valve, Michael and Ty had already changed into their swimming suits and were ready to swim! I guess I'm not the only one ready for some warmer weather!

6. I subbed in Primary on Sunday. I thought I was supposed to be in the Junior primary so I went to sharing time first. By the time I found out my kids were in Senior Primary and found my classroom, one of the kids had already climbed out the window. Anyone have any great tips for getting 7-year-olds to be quiet and listen? They told me no candy, but I may have to smuggle some in next time.

7. Michael made a goal at his soccer game last Saturday! Way to go Michael!

8. This afternoon I made Ty some lunch and then took Blake upstairs to give him a bottle and nap. Ty found a big roll of string in the art bin and went to town with it while I was distracted. He wrapped it around the bar stools, the counter, the couches, the door knobs, the banister, up the stairs, around the bunk beds, into the closet. . . You get the picture. He told me there was a dragon downstairs that he was trying to catch! Where do these kids get their silly imaginations? Today he told me (not for the first time) that he liked Dad better than me. This was sometime after I sprayed vinegar in his mouth for biting Michael (which I haven't had to do for quite some time!). I didn't really have my feelings hurt. I just smiled and told him that I like Dad more than him too! Just kidding, that's what I wanted to say to him. What a little stinker!

9. Speaking of biting, this little one bit his cousin Jimmy on Saturday and his brother Ty on Sunday. Apparently he thinks fingers are tasty. So, if any of you have fingers, watch out for Blake! He has been saying "mama" all week, but I think he's just practicing his sounds rather than calling me by name. He is also saying something that sounds a bit like "thank you," but I'm not so sure about that one either.

10. Today I took all three boys with me to the library. I know, recipe for a disaster. I usually avoid this at all costs. But, today (for the very first time ever) we made it out without anyone making a scene (including me)! This is truly cause for celebration! Maybe I'll go have a skinny cow.

The library was a disaster today for me with my three girls. I'm so glad it was good for you, that'll give me some hope for next week. I never thought about the vinegar in the mouth bit. I'll be using that technique on my current biter. I already have a spray bottle ready that I use on the dogs when they bark too much. I'm with you on fitting into some smaller jeans. I think that desire overwhelms me every year come thawing time and I start up on the treadmill again. It's the fear of me getting into a swimming suit that really freaks me out and get my butt into gear :?

What's up with the weather? Only in Utah I guess...swimsuits one day and snowboots the next!

I say smuggle the candy in. I will never tell. HEHE
I think you must be making these things up about my little Ty. He is SUCH an angel! Oh I taught Blake how to say Thank You... so umm yup that is exactly what he is saying. :)

I loved this post. Does the vinegar really work? Dallin is a biter. I have a feeling Dallin wuldn't care. The screams of Mia would be worth it. After this baby comes I'm gonna do WW at home.....I can't afford the meetings. Let me tell you how much I can't wait to count every point I eat.

I still remember when I was five or so and my dad told me that my mom was the woman he loved most. I was so offended that he didn't love me the most!

When I taught the 5 and 6 year olds (all boys), I had a couple strategies. I tried to give them a few minutes before the lesson to talk about whatever they wanted so that they'd be a little less inclined to interrupt the lesson with stories about their video games. It usually didn't work, but it helped a little. I also started bringing pipe cleaners and popsicle sticks and I'd let them make a craft while I taught the lesson. I learned to limit the number of pipe cleaners I brought though because they'd always ask for more and usually they just crumpled them all up together. Active hands didn't fix everything but it kept some of them in their seats thirty seconds longer than normal.

I love Ty's string incident! Way more fun for me than you, I'm sure. Isn't that why we blog and keep journals--so that someday we can look back on all the things our kids did and laugh?
