Ten for Tuesday 4.1.08

  1. Reed decided to prune our trees in the front yard on Saturday. For some reason, the trees they put on our park strip have always been shaped funny. Reed did his best to make them look a little bit better, but they still look pretty sad. He cut off a lot of branches. We saved some to bring inside, and I am looking forward to seeing them blossom!

2. Out of the 6 pair of jeans I bought for Michael last fall, he has only one left without a huge hole in the knee. I finally broke down and bought him some new pants, even though I hate to do that right before summer. Michael and Ty were just a little bit excited about getting some new shirts for the summer. You should have seen them dancing to the music in the aisles of Children's Place. It was pretty hysterical. Does anyone else have boys who get this excited about clothes?

3. Blake has had a busy week. He has been cruising along the furniture, and can make it up the stairs in a flash. He had two more teeth pop through the gums, and he's trying to learn how to wave bye bye. He is still waking up at least once a night to scream his guts out. Not sure what his problem is, but I hope it's over soon.
4. I finally asked my "licensed master esthetician" to help me solve my skin woes. The stuff my dermatologist gave me (for the 2nd time) was so expensive and inconvenient to use, and only seemed to make my skin worse. She said I need microdermabrasion every month, and she told me to back way off the Clearasil because it was probably just giving me more acne. Huh? I really can't afford to fork out $65 a month for microdermabrasion, but I'm going to try out some sample products she gave me. Of course, she said my skin will probably get worse before it gets better. They always say that. The problem is that it always seems to get worse, and I never get to the "gets better" phase. This should not be rocket science!
5. Reed worked really hard last week to put together our wills and trust documents. We've been meaning to do that for a long time, and finally got it all taken care of. It's strange to have to think about who will take your kids if you are no longer around. At this point, I'm not so sure anyone would be able to handle all three of them!
6. I've been on a spring cleaning kick since January. Having kids around really slows the whole process down! On Saturday I had reed pull out the fridge and stove so I could clean underneath it. One word: Nasty. Enough said.
7. I was wanting to pull an April Fools joke on my blog today, but the only thing I could come up with was to announce that I'm having another baby. And, anyone who really knows me would know that that is just one big fat lie. There won't be any new babies in this family for a long while.
8. Michael is having playdate issues. He's not really old enough to go off and play on his own totally unsupervised, so I have a hard time just sending him over to a friend's house without talking to the mom first. I don't want her to think I'm trying to mooch free babysitting time or anything. The problem is that he always wants to go to a friend's house instead of inviting one over, because the friend always has cooler toys. It's hard to explain to him that it's not polite to just invite yourself over all the time. It's also hard for him to understand that it's rude to go and play with someone just because you think he has cool toys.
9. It's cold outside! 21 degrees is not an acceptable way to start the day!
10. I decided to start walking with some of my friends in the morning. Unbelievable, I know. Yes, I actually scraped myself out of bed at 6:15 two days in a row. It was really hard to get up, but it felt great to get up and get moving. Thanks for the motivation girls!

Those branches look very chic! Nice decorating skills! That cracks me up that they loved getting new clothes. I am sure you know I have an obsession with buying Roman clothes.

Oh also, my mom can do your micro for way cheaper at her school. Just an FYI. I am her model for it next week so I will let you know how it goes. :)

Totally agree...21 degrees outside is not the way to start the day, especially in April. I'm done with the snow and cold. I'm going to start dressing my kids in shorts, in spite of the weather. OK, mainly Sam because, like Michael, he has only one pair of pants that does not have a huge hole in the knee. Church pants, track pants, jeans, it doesn't matter, holes in all of them.

I am so jealous of your branches. I wanted to prune my trees this year so I could get some lovely blossoms indoors, but alas--they don't need pruning. And I hear ya on the jeans! Ethan's holes are all in the left knee, and all of the pants were from Children's Place. I'm going to start buying his pants at Shopko, because they have a Kid Tough Promise.

So some one told me once that when starting a new skin regime you should introduce it slowly over several days to prevent a breakout. So start out with the face wash and then a few days later add the toner, etc. Also I have been told that clay mask are really good for cleaning out your pores. I find when I do a mask at least once a week that my skin looks 10 times better.
